MOANA Live Action – Official Trailer (2024) Dwayne Johnson, Zendaya | Disney+

A fanmade trailer for the live-action Moana imagines Dwayne Johnson as Maui, and Zendaya in the titular role. The Disney animated film premiered in 2016, gaining critical and commercial success, along with two Academy Award nominations. Set in Ancient Polynesia, it follows the character of Moana, who seeks to return a mystical stone to the goddess Te Fiti in order to save her village from a devastating blight. In the original movie, Moana was voiced by Auli’i Cravalho, while Johnson portrayed Maui, a demigod responsible for stealing the artifact known as The Heart of Te Fiti.

It was announced back in April that a live-action Moana film would be made, with Johnson returning to play Maui. When confirming the news, the actor revealed that it will feature many elements from the original movie, which could include HeiHei, Pua, and other characters. Given how popular its songs have become, most notably “How Far I’ll Go” and “You’re Welcome,” it is worth wondering if any new music will be added as well, similar to previous Disney live-action remakes.

Like every other actor, his track record with box office numbers is not perfect, given how he saw a fair share of flops before he made it big in Hollywood. However, once the actor built some steam by taking up safe archetypical roles, his consistency snowballed, making him a Hollywood powerhouse who guaranteed hit after hit. However, lately, there has been a surprising change in The Rock’s ability to deliver the box office numbers he previously promised, suggesting that he needs the Moana live-action adaptation more than ever.
